| The Kirkmichael Trust was established in April 2002 as a formal Trust, although it has been operating as a Steering Group since 2000. There are currently 20 members, although considerably more attend events such as the recent very successful Guided Tour of Kirkmichael. The Trust is a properly constituted, voluntary group operating on an open membership policy. The Trust has been established for the benefit of the people of the Black Isle and Highlands generally. Members are drawn from the Black Isle and Easter Ross. Meetings and events have largely taken place in Resolis Memorial Hall, but have also taken place in the residence of a local historian and in the Cromarty Centre, and on the site itself. The main ideas are to acquire, restore and maintain the historic, scheduled Kirkmichael Church and associated Mausoleums and to seek appropriate management of the Graveyard. The Trust seeks to remedy and afford: - the dangerous and neglected condition of the Church, Mausoleums and graveyard
- opportunities to involve school and the community in this work
- provision of employment for skilled craftsmen during two years site work
- a link to the Highland Heritage Trail for the education and enlightenment of the community and visitors from the UK and abroad.
The Trust will assess the success of the project by: - having ,within a defined period a restored and preserved Church and Mausoleum, and appropriately managed graveyard
- assessment of visitor numbers and feedback by visitor book
- web site hit rate & publication of booklets and sales thereof.
