Kirkmichael Guided Tour 2013
Our tour poster
Castle Craig was occupied by the Bishops of Ross and then by the Urquharts
sketched by painter JMW Turner from a boat in 1831
from MacGibbon in 1889
enough talk — on we go down!
the visitors stream past the old Urquhart keep
there was once talk of a goblin looking out these windows
but the only spirits were illicit whisky
the visitors are astonished at the contrast
between the intact east end with corbelled walkway, and the hollowed out west end
down the bank to the former courtyard, and it starts to rain
the doorway out to the corbelled walkway
Castle Craig from the north, beside the sea wall
a portion of the defensive courtyard wall on the left
access to Castle Craig was from the sea
and it looks directly over to Easter Ross
hope those Wellie boots do not leak!
one last look at the romantic Castle Craig
and we wish Clan Urquhart well with their current restoration proposals
